Dr. Kwok Pui Lan

Dr. Kwok Pui Lan joins us to share wisdom from her 2023 book The Anglican Tradition from a Postcolonial Perspective.

We talk about what a postcolonial perspective is, how we can decolonize our own ways of thinking, and where we go from here. We talk about how the Global South can offer us helpful perspective. We talk about how best to understand the history and identity of the Anglican Church. We also talk about how we should understand the ecological crisis in light of our faith. Finally, we talk about metanoia—a way of encountering God anew to respond to a calling and convert to a greater truth.

Dr. Kwok Pui Lan retired in 2024 as Dean’s Professor of Systematic Theology at Candler School of Theology, Emory University after an illustrious career. Dr. Kwok’s research focuses on Asian feminist and postcolonial theology. She taught at Episcopal Divinity School for 25 years.
