Convocation

Convocation is an annual alumni/ae celebration, held in October by the “Quad Partners,” including Yale Divinity School, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, and Andover Newton Seminary.

Berkeley events at Convocation include the annual Graduate Network lunch, Wednesday Community Eucharist, and named lectures. The Cheney Lectures (in an area related to pastoral theology) and the Pitt Lectures (on preaching or related to global Christianity) alternate years. There is also an annual evensong and honorary degree conferral.

Past lectures have been given by figures such as

  • Vicentia Kgabe (Pitt Lecture, 2023)
  • Michael Battle (Cheney Lecture, 2022)
  • Patrick Cheng (Pitt Lecture, 2021)
  • Jenny Te Paa Daniel (Cheney Lecture, 2020)
  • Peter Hawkins (Pitt Lecture, 2019)
  • Martin Seely (Cheney Lecture, 2018)

Convocation is a great time to come back to campus in person to connect and re-connect with fellow alumni/ae.
