22: Entrepreneurship with Denise Vargas

Executive Director of El Hogar Denise Vargas joins us to talk about entrepreneurship. She helps us think in an entrepreneurial way about ministry and grounds innovation in community. We also take a while to chat about Vargas’s life as a poet, to hear some of her poetry, and to talk about how poetry intersects with the work she does at El Hogar.

About Denise Vargas:

Denise Vargas is the first Honduran Executive Director of El Hogar Projects in Honduras. In this role, Vargas supports El Hogar’s growth and sustainability. Vargas has over 20 years of executive-level experience. She specializes in innovation, organizational development, and entrepreneurship. She is the founder of Impact Strategies. She was the Commercial Manager of Ultrmotor and Motomundo for nearly 10 years. For 4 years, she worked in New York as Couselor for the Honduras Mission to the United Nations.

Denise Vargas is also a poet. She has published 2 books of poetry: “Martes como toda la vida (Costa Rica, 2016) and “El ruido de la ciudad que abandonas” (Ecuador, 2022). Her work has been translated into English and Italian.

Vargas is a fellow of the Central American Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
