New Faces at BDS this Fall

Berkeley Divinity School welcomes two new faces to the Quad - The Rev’d Dr Gabrielle Thomas has been appointed lecturer in Anglican Studies and Early Christianity, and the Rev’d Dawn Stegelmann ’08 is interim Coordinator of the Annand Program.

The Rev. Dawn Stegelmann is a graduate of Hillsdale College, Yale Divinity School (M.Div. ‘08) and The General Theological Seminary ((S.T.M., ‘17). A former journalist and writer, Dawn has served parishes in Connecticut, including Trinity, Southport and St. Luke’s, Darien, where she currently serves as an associate rector. She is a spiritual director and an adjunct professor at GTS, where she teaches courses in spiritual direction and creative spiritual practices.  Dawn also does individual and group spiritual direction with a focus in the areas of spirituality, psychology, philosophy and science. 

Rev. Stegelmann is on campus on Wednesday & Thursday, Room S106.

The Rev. Dr. Gabrielle Thomas comes to campus following a post-dcotoral position at Durham University, U.K., during which time she also served as a Minor Canon in Durham Cathedral. She is a historical theologian working on questions relating to theological anthropology, evil and suffering. She studied Classics at the University of Bristol and Theology at St John’s College, Nottingham, and undertook her PhD at the University of Nottingham. Her teaching interests include Early Christianity, Evil, and Anglican studies, and she has won awards for her lecturing in Durham. Her book The Image of God in the Theology of Gregory of Nazianzus was published earlier in 2019 by Cambridge University Press.
