Dear Alumni and Friends of Berkeley,

God knows no social distance. Through prayer and our membership one with another in the body of Christ we are companions in community, companions in faith. As we pray and work in virtual gatherings -  as we pray with and for all who suffer in this time of pandemic, faith, in the words of the letter to the Hebrews, is the “assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen”. 

Like many schools, colleges and universities, Yale Divinity School classes will reconvene following spring break, on March 23rd, as virtual classrooms through the end of spring term. We will gather for the Daily Office on line each morning at 8 am, led by a student and enjoy podcasts of the remaining senior sermons. Students are finding myriad ways to gather as prayer partners and in virtual communities of support and spiritual company for each other.  

While the Berkeley staff are not allowed to work on campus. We continue to be available to our students via email, cell phones, conference calls and zoom.  

Please pray for the Berkeley community, and its students as we will for you. 

I offer this poem as we trust in God during this time of physical separation.  We are drawn together in the body of Christ as the Berkley community.
