Berkeley Graduates the Class of 2018

May 24, 2018

Commencement 2018 was a pretty good weekend for Berkeley and our larger Anglican community. It began bright and early Saturday with the Royal Wedding, featuring our own Michael Curry BDS ’78 giving a magnificent—and now famous–wedding homily on the theme that “love is the only way.”

Later that day, Marquand Chapel was the scene of the Berkeley Evensong service that celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2018. Associate Dean The Rev. Dr. Cathy George delivered her own inspiring message, as she reflected on her time with this class, her first to shepherd through their three-year journey at Yale. Cathy’s sermon is linked here.

Capping off the special festivities was Yale Commencement on Monday, May 21. Among the honorees receiving Yale doctorates was none other than former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams. Berkeley seniors greeted Williams as he processed with other dignitaries, and afterwards Dean McGowan was able to join him for lunch at the conclusion of the ceremonies.

Congratulations Graduates!  Welcome Alumni!
